This project started life back in 1990 with a music film I made for the BBC called ONE WORLD ONE VOICE (it's in the VIDEO listings on this site). There was something about its core concept of people contributing to a single piece of music from all over the world in both sound and pictures, that stayed with me long after I'd finished making the film. It always irked me that some kind of collaborative process couldn't continue after the event, adding, subtracting, mixing and morphing music and film into a truly global audio - visual experience Then the internet arrived...
In 2008 I began to assemble people with way more know how than me to make this dream a reality. In the beginning the technology wasn't quite fast enough to deliver what was needed but after much experimentation, skill and tenacity the dream materialised. In 2013 it took the form of an app called WHOLEWORLDBAND, an echo of its original inspiration all those years ago. As you can see it's now called YOUDIO (easier on the ear and less of a mouthful) and offers a simple way to make music and video with anyone, anywhere in the world.
